I install the system from the instructions from the manual. I now receive a crash to desktop.

Did you make sure the NWP graphics correctly installed? This is one of the most common reasons why FC crashes shortly after a fresh install with NWP installed. If the DOS window gave a error when it ran, then you installed in the wrong place.

Just to test, run a NWP FC single player scenario, if it runs but you click on any of the units that have NWP graphics used and it crashes, then the graphics were not correctly installed.

However, if the DOS window does NOT spit out a bunch of dos commands, then you have to install the graphics manually. To manually install the graphics for NWP, go to the Graphics folder contained in your Fleet Command folder and look for the NWP.bat file. When you find it, run it and it should spit out a ton of DOS command lines. Wait until it completely finishes, that will be when it stops spitting out lines.
