Yeah, I remember. If you need any help with researching scenarios, don't hesitate to ask. I have my Conway's volumes and a few other references handy these days.

According to Daily War Diary, there were no minesweeping operations on the 21-22 September due to winds. 25 September was the same. 26th of September winds were 6-7 on the Beaufort scale, again no mineclearing operations. 28-29 September same issue, all operations cancelled. 1 October was same with strong winds and rain, same for the 2nd of October through 6th October. Weather improved around the 7th October with the report stating estimates for a few days of good weather. Weather deteriorated on the 11th and 12th of October. Conditions appear to have been overcast much of the time with fog.

That's the best I can do.

Played this one last night. Couldn't resist seeing how the old battlewagons would stand up to a single Hun...

Bismark started dropping ordnance on New York while still well out of the Americans' gun range. An early hit took out one MB turret and reduced NY's speed.

I was able to close to gun range for the US and started to drop a lot of 12" and 14" shells around Bismark, but at extreme range the US ships weren't all that accurate. When the range was finally under 18k yds, I obtained a few hits, but by then I wasn't in a position to argue with the Germans anymore.

Although neither side lost ships due to sinking, New York was down to 2 operating MB turrets and a pair of secondaries, Texas was on fire and flooding. Arkansas had to cover for those two while they disengaged and was pretty battered herself in the act. Bismark came away with some damage and flooding, but kept her MB intact and remained faster than my damaged ships. She eventually ran north out of range. Scenario ended in a draw.

Kind of what I expected, though Bismark may have been better off to keep out of the USN's range and just lob shells over. I'll have to try North Carolina against Bismark and see how that turns out...

Try the "North Carolina Intervenes" scenario, which pits the "Showboat against the Bismarck. Also, check out "Short of War 3," which pits a New Mexico class BB and a trio of flush-decker DDs against the Tirpitz.

Default issue loading Short of War 3...

    Robert,

When I try to load the "Short of War 3" scenario and it immediately ends with "Battle ended early" (or similar note). Any quick ideas as to what could cause this...what might look for in the txt? I did a quick scan of the scenario .txt but did not see anything obvious to me at least.

    (I am running WC-NAW 1.06)
    Kind Regards,

    Harry Miktarian
