    NWS: Modern Naval Conflicts Series is a NWS Team designed next generation comprehensive naval wargame covering the hypothetical major naval battles of WW3 with the ability to create unlimited custom scenarios.

    Planned features for the first edition (expansions will add additional time frames, regions, navies, etc.):
    * 9 x 8.5"x11" full color heavy cardstock thickness maps covering nearly 1.5 million square nm of the GIUK naval theater.
    * 25nm map hex scale and tactical formation display for resolving <25nm close range combat.
    * Time frame for the first edition is 1970-1980 with other time frames planned for future editions.
    * Rapid fire combat resolution allowing players to handle even large naval engagements in just a few hours.
    * Forces will included: United States, Great Britain, and Russia. More countries planned for published expansions.
    * 200+ ship classes and aircraft types.
    * Streamlined, detailed, and easy to follow combat mechanics including basic, advanced, and optional rules.
    * Full color professionally printed and mounted 300+ 3/4" aircraft, ship, sub, etc. combat unit counters
    * As above; 180+ 1/2" mounted map and combat markers.
    * 50+ page rules manual that will include a series of scenarios.
    * Over 30+ combat resolution charts covering all dimensions of sub, surface, and aerial combat, sensors, and electronic warfare.
    * Combat examples included for easy understanding of how the rules work during game play as well as quick reference modifier charts.
    * 2 ten-sided dice.
    * Very flexible design that can be played as a board game or with miniatures.

    5/30/2010 Progress report:

    * Combat unit counters will include highly detailed side views of ships, aircraft, subs, etc.
    * Map artwork primary draft completed. Starting to work on adding strategic and important locations and military bases.
    * The operational map will now cover nealry 1.5 million nautical miles of the GIUK theater using a total of 9 8.5x11" hex map panels.
    * First draft test print counters due to arrive this week.
    * Play testing is progressing very well.
    * Presently on schedule for June to July publication date.

    5/18/2010 Progress report:

    * Updated game information above.
    * Started art work on unit counters and GIUK map.
    * All rules and combat charts are ready for testing.
    * 200+ combat unit charts presently being designed. (Will be published as PDF files for players to print as needed)
    * Combat mechanics testing presently underway.
    * To date, on schedule for estimated release time frame.
